The problem with the NEA is that it's unnecessary.

Fuck the National Endowment for the Arts.

I'm an artist.

I think art is great! I love it! I'm super fucking liberal.

But I don't need money from anyone, let alone the government,

to make art.

Without any evidence, I will say this: No great work of art

from the 20th century needed money from the NEA.

But I don't think a person needs or deserves a sabbatical

to do their work either. I say, if you can't do it by your own means,

then fuck it. I'm sure there are exceptions: blah, blah, blah.

I'm mainly talking about poetry and writing. Poets don't

need a grant from the NEA to write poems. And Poetry wouldn't

be better if it got more grants from the NEA.
